South Africa claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Zambia in a friendly game on Sunday in Johannesburg as part of their preparations for this month's African Cup of Nations.

Substitute Thuso Phala, who came off the bench with 10 minutes remaining, scored the winner one minute following his introduction.

The two teams are preparing for the Nations Cup that will start in Equatorial Guinea on 17 January.

The Bafana Bafana were drawn in Group C alongside Algeria, Ghana and Senegal while Tunisia were drawn in an easy Group (C) that includes Zambia, DR Congo and Cap Verde.
