Orlando Pirates’s defender Gcaba replaces his teammate Phungwayo with the Bafana Bafana at the 2015 AFCON

South Africa coach Ephraim Shakes Mashaba has reportedly called up Orlando Pirates defender Ayanda Gcaba to replace club mate Patrick Phungwayo, who will miss the 2015 African Cup of Nations due to injury.

On Saturday, Phungwayo has been left out of the Bafana Bafana 23-man squad due to a knee injury that has sidelined him since 30 December.

Gcaba is supposed to join South Africa’s ongoing training camp in Gabon on Tuesday.

South Africa were drawn in Group C alongside Algeria, Ghana and Senegal.
