Former information minister Anas El-Fikki has had all his financial assets frozen pending investigation, follwing charges against him of illicit profiteering.
El-Fikki and former state broadcasting chief Osama El-Sheikh were both arrested on 24 February as part of a probe into alleged graft under ousted president Hosni Mubarak.
Legal actions were also taken to reveal his bank accounts in Egypt and abroad.
According to recent investigations, El-Fikki’s assets – in comparison to his income – indicate that he may have embezzled public funds.
While being questioned, El-Fikki admitted depositing two million dollars in a Swiss bank and possession of other bank accounts and real estate.
