A court in Minya has sentenced three supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi to 25 years in prison for protesting without a permit.
Another defendant was given a suspended one year sentence, while five others were acquitted.
The defendants were also convicted of defying the constitution, obstructing state institutions, and rioting.
Hundreds of protesters, including prominent secular activists, have been handed hefty jail terms and fines since the authorities banned all unauthorised protests in November.
A security crackdown on Morsi supporters has left hundreds dead and thousands in jail or facing trial, including Morsi himself and the top leaders of his Muslim Brotherhood group.
