Prominent Egyptian actor and producer Sami El-Adl died in the early hours of Friday after being hospitalized with a heart problem. He was 69.
Reem El-Adl, Sami’s niece, said on Facebook that a funeral will be held on Friday following noon prayers at Al-Rashdan mosque in Cairo’s Nasr City.
El-Adl made his film debut in the early 1970s, launching a career that eventually spanned more than 50 movies and television series. His last appearance was in a television series entitled Hareit Al-Yahoud (The Jewish Alley) which is being screened in Muslims’ holy month of Ramadan.
He also established a production company in the late 1980s, calling it “El-Adl Film” before Sami’s three brothers set up the now-famous El-Adl Group in 1997, which produced 18 films and 26 television series.
