Greco-Roman wrestler Karam Gaber, one of Egypt's most decorated Olympians, is set to miss out on next summer's Rio de Janeiro Games after being hit with a two-year suspension by the United World Wrestling due to anti-doping rules violation.

The world governing body, which oversees wrestling at the Olympics, has also decided to fine the Egyptian Wrestling Federation a 20000 Swiss Franck after Gaber had been adjudged to "have either failed to file the doping tests or missed them".

Consequently, 2004 Olympics gold-medalist Gaber has been suspended for two years starting 27/8/2015 till 26/8/2017.

Egypt's Sports Ministry is reportedly arranging with the Egyptian federation to submit an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against Gaber's suspension.

Gaber is ranked among Egypt's best Olympians of all time, having won the gold in Athens 11 years ago before winning the silver medal at the 2012 London Games.
