An array of concerts are scheduled to take place at El-Genaina Theatre on 9 and 10 October. The concerts come as part of Elhafla Square (El7afla), a mini festival comprising double bill concerts.
On Friday 9 October, Egyptian singer, songwriter and composer Osama El-Hady will deliver a concert together with his band. El-Hady previously performed at the opening of the Cairo Film Festival 2013 edition, and represented Egypt at the Moroccan Sun Festival 2014 edition.
The concert will be followed by a performance by El-Nafikha. In English meaning ‘blowers’, the band presents an amalgam of musical genres and creative rearrangements of heritage music. The band’s line-up includes: Mohamed Sawwah, Amir Ibrahim, Waleed Gabr, Ahmed Ismail, Masky, Khaled ElSayes and Sameh Shaaban.
On Saturday 10 October, three Egyptian musicians are set to deliver two different concerts.
The night will begin with a performance by singer, trumpet player and music composer Abdullah Miniawy. Miniawy composed movie soundtracks and participated in an array of international festivals including La Voix Est Libre Festival in France and Ecrire la Méditerranée.
Miniawy will be joned by Ahmed Saleh who is also a music composer and member of the band Telepoetic.
This will be followed by a concert by Hussein Sherbini, a music composer, producer and visual artist. He released his debut album Electro Chaabi this year.
El-Genaina also announced concerts scheduled for later in October featuring El Door El Awal band, Sudanese singer Asia Madani, the Egyptian Project, as well as Balalika performance by Al-Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School.
All concerts start at 8 pm at El-Genaina Theatre.
