A thousand university professors from the Coalition of Egyptian Universities Faculty joined Determination Friday with the slogan “We want a free university and the National Democratic Party out” and “the people demand the cleansing of universities”.

Massoud Faiez, Anatomy Department Chairman at the Faculty of Medicine in Kafr El Sheikh, says that the coalition joined the protests in solidarity with the revolutionaries and to support demands to oust university presidents appointed under Mubarak, stage university elections and purge universities of former National Democratic Party members and State Security.

He added that the coalition supports retribution for the martyrs.

Free Universities
I would like to support the efforts of the 1000 university professors in their call for free universities that can determine their own futures and establish their own competitive programs that can attract the best students to their universities. Higher education in Egypt is central to the success of the Revolution's objectives and advancing Egypt technologically to their right place in the world. This can only be achieved through free and independent universities in Egypt. Morad
