Hundreds of protesters in Alexandria blocked the Corniche Road (the seaside artery running across the city from East to West) in solidarity with the Suez protesters, according to our Ahram Online corresondent.

The protesters, who are also organising a sit-in outside the Qayed Ibrahim Mosque, say that the news of the army dispersing the sit-in blocking El Sokhna road in Suez inspired them to block the Corniche in solidarity.

It is not yet known how long the blockade will last as protesters are calling on people in the area to join.

Corniche in Alex
There were hundreds earlier blocking the Corniche and directing the traffic. I have very little Arabic, the slogans I recognised were " thowra thowra hatta an nasr" and " Allahu akbar"
