A lecture series discussing the impact of political shifts on 'socio-cultural products', including architecture and cinema, will take place on 9 November at Megawra's hub.

The series will comprise of four episodes all scheduled for the same day and will look at how “urban and architectural transformations are indeed part of the political effect,” as is mentioned on the event's Facebook page.  

As such, the lecture will “study the three-dimensional relationship between politics or political shifts, societal products (cinema) and architecture through studying the Egyptian condition during the second part of the 21st century or Cairo between two revolutions.”

The first episode focuses on the period between 1952 and 1970, discussing the film El-Bab El-Maftouh (The Open Door-1963), while the second episode commences during post-revolution Cairo up until 1970, examining the film Tharthara Fawq Al-Nile (Chitchat on the Nile-1971). The third and fourth episodes span the period between 1970 and 2011, looking at the films Entabeho Ayoha El Sada (Attention, Ladies and Gentlemen-1978), and Sarkhat Namla (The Cry of an Ant-2011), respectively.  

The lecture, which will be in Arabic, will be delivered by architect Mogib ElRahman Amer, who besides being an engineer is also a writer on architecture, and the author of the book Tajaliyyat Modaraj 3002 (Manifestations of the Lecture Hall no.3002) published in 2015.
