A Season in Hell is a group exhibit held at Gypsum Gallery, with a concept conceived by artists Hany Rashed and Amr Kafrawy.

Paying homage to Arthur Rimbaud, and borrowing the title of the exhibit from his 1873 poem, A Season in Hell tackles the inputs that feed our perceptions of reality.

The featured artists are Doa Aly,
 Nada Baraka,
 Rania Fouad,
 Amr Kafrway,
 Basim Magdy,
 Hany Rashed,
 Ahmed Sabry and
Marwa El-Shazly who all reconfigure realities in their own language and mediums.

“They twist, distort and amplify sources and subjects alike. They play with the conventions of dreams and hallucinations, as a fluid and elusive state that in its absurdity is sometimes closer to the truth,” as written in the exhibition’s statement.

The exhibition will display a selection of new and recent works in various mediums, including canvas, celluloid, wood, paper, linen and plastic.

Programme:
The exhibition opens on 9 December at 7pm and runs till 20 January
Gypsum Gallery, 5 Ibrahim Naguib Street, Apt 2, Ground Floor, Garden City, Cairo.
Open daily from 12-8pm. Friday 4-8pm with Sundays off
