Demonstrations come to an end as holding company promises to form a committee to enact employees' demands by the end of September

Cairo Airport

EgyptAir Ground Services employees at Cairo international airport ended their partial strike in the early hours of Thursday morning after a meeting between representatives of protesting employees and Hussein Massoud, chairman of EgyptAir's holding company.

Demonstrations were called off after the company agreed to form a committee to carry out employees' demands by the end of the month. Demands included changing the name of their positions from "workers" to "technicians", the payment of promised bonuses and hiring extra employees to lighten a heavy workload.

EgyptAir Ground Services employees started their strike on Wednesday after rumours spread that concessions they won by strike actions earlier in the year would not be honoured. A slowdown in work caused delays in ground operations at the airport.
