AUC library fire put out

Tear gas canisters targeting protesters cause fire in university's Falaki Street campus off Tahrir Square

Firefighters put out a fire at the AUC library in the old campus on Falaki Street before it had time to spread to neighbouring buildings.

According to security sources, the fire was caused by tear gas canisters Central Security Forces were firing at protesters in Mohamed Mahmoud Street and Falaki Street.

There were no casualties but parts of the library were damanged in the fire.

Fires have been engulfing buildings in streets around Tahrir Square as a result from the clashes between protesters and security forces that have been ongoing for the past five days.
