The Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s annual International Summer Festival kicks off on 16 July with a concert by Jordanian band Autostrad, followed by five weeks packed with concerts, theatre performances, dance and film.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina will be collaborating with other cultural institutions for some of the events; the Hellenic Foundation for Culture will screen the Greek film The Aunt from Chicago, the French Institute in Alexandria will put on French classic Jules and Jim, and Pro Helvetia, aSwiss governmental cultural institute, is organising a concert by OY band.

The programme includes two “family days,” one on 27 July and the second on 5 August, which will feature workshops and activities for children in a tent, as well as a puupet show at the theatre.

All events are ticketed, except for those that are free entry, including the screenings of Jules and Jim and The Aunt from Chicago, and two talks on film, one focused on directing actors, by director Ahmed Abdalla El-Sayed, and another on acting, by actor Ahmed Kamal.
