The Egyptian national team has jumped nine places to be 49th on FIFA's July rankings released on Thursday.
Senegal, which lost to Algeria in the final of the recent 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, leads the Africans at 20th place on the world ranking, while the AFCON 2019 hosts Egypt, which bid farewell to the African tournament early, came in sixth among the African teams.
Being in the top 10 African teams puts Egypt at the top of a group during the second phase of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Belgium has maintained the lead in the world rankings, followed by Brazil, which jumped a single place after winning the latest 2019 Copa America.
