Egypt's handball team defeated Portugal 37-27 to clinch the bronze medal of the U21 World Championship on Sunday.
Egypt took a 17-15 first half lead before extending their dominance in the second half; keeping a goal difference of five or six goals most of the time, repeating their success of winning the bronze medal at the 1999 edition.
The Egyptian team failed to reach this tournament final after a narrow 35-33 loss to France on Saturday.
Egypt reached the final last time in 1993 when they made history by winning the trophy at home.
The Pharaohs produced some impressive displays in the group stage of this edition, becoming the first non-European team to win all their group matches since 2009.
They beat Serbia 30-29 in an exciting contest in the round of 16 before defeating Norway 29-27 in the quarters.
