Ahmed Rafaat, the presiding judge in the ongoing trial of ousted president Hosni Mubarak, will announce the date on which a final verdict in the case will be delivered on Wednesday, 22 February, Rafaat said on Thursday.
On Monday, 20 February, the court is expected to hear the prosecution's comments on earlier arguments made by the defence team. And on 22 February, the court is expected to hear the defence team's arguments, along with defendants' comments on the prosecution’s arguments.
Mubarak, along with former interior minister Habib El-Adly and six of the latter's assistants, has been charged with instructing subordinates to fire on unarmed protesters during last year's 18-day Tahrir Square uprising. The ousted president, along with his two sons and runaway businessman Hussein Salem, also faces a host of corruption charges.
