Senegalese club Generation Foot stated they were firmly sticking to facing Egypt's Zamalek in Cairo on Saturday instead of Alexandria a day later after the recent decision to change both date and venue of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League confrontation.

"We were supposed to train on Friday; 24 hours ahead of the match according to CAF's regulations, but we were surprised with CAF's letter on Friday night, informing us that the match was postponed to Sunday," read a statement by Generation Foot on its official website on Saturday.

The Cairo giants were due to host the Senegalese side at Cairo's Petro Sport Stadium on Saturday in the return match of the African Champions League round of 32, but the match was moved to Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium a day later for security reasons. CAF agreed to move the match, but insisted that Zamalek pay the cost of the Generation Foot stay at the coastal city, according to Zamalek's football supervisor Amir Mortada.

Generation Foot arrived at Cairo's Petrosport Stadium on Saturday evening but were barred entry by the stadium's officials.

Zamalek dealt a 2-1 away loss in the first leg on 14 October.

On Friday, the African football governing body CAF officially informed Generation Foot with the new venue and said the date was postponed for 24 hours, to be held on Sunday.

"How were we informed with the postponement just 24 hours ahead of the match? It is impossible for us to be able to play the match in Alexandria. We are sticking to our rights and we are asking all parties to respect the regulations," the statement added.

The Senegalese side reportedly refused to move to Alexandria on Saturday morning via a bus sent by Zamalek officials. Some reports say the team will head directly to Petro Sport Stadium at the match's original time on Saturday.

The five-time Champions League winners Zamalek just need to win 1-0 in the return match against Generation Foot to book a place in the group stage.
