Albanian President Ilir Meta said that the scale of major projects in Egypt is “surprising.”
He noted that Egypt is the centre of the Arab world and of Africa.
“When we want to address that important region of the world, we address Egypt,” he said.
The comments were made in an interview with Meta by the Egyptian political writer Ahmed El-Muslimani, former adviser to Egyptian president Adly Mansour, at the Albanian presidential headquarters in Tirana.
Meta said that Albania had established a new era in 2019 aiming at strengthening the ties between the two countries, and that he has invited President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to visit Albania, as it will help deepen Cairo-Tirana relations.
Meta expressed his gratitude for meeting the Egyptian president in February in Cairo.
