Egypt conveyed its deep condolences to Sudan over the military plane crash that left at least 18 dead, a statement by the foreign ministry read on Saturday.

The statement expressed “Egypt’s support to the Sudanese people over the tragic accident."

On Thursday a Sudanese military transport plane crashed after take-off from an airport in Sudan’s West Darfur, killing its crew of seven as well as three judges and eight other civilians, including four children.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
