Egypt's health ministry said in a statement on Saturday that it recorded 167 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of confirmed infections nationwide to 95,314 cases since the detection of the first case on 14 February.
This is the seventh consecutive day for the health ministry to register coronavirus infections less than the 200 cases despite lifting lockdown measures. For the first time since April, Egypt’s daily toll of coronavirus cases dropped below 200 this week, with the daily toll hovering between 110-170 cases since last Sunday.
The ministry said in the statement that it also reported 21 new deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities from the respiratory virus to 4,992.
The statement added that 1,119 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus on Saturday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 51,672.
