The Egyptian Football Association has denied reports that its medical committee will stop using PCR tests (a test that can detect antibodies from exposure to the Covid-19 pandemic) ahead of the league games.

"So far, we do not have any intention of stopping the use of PCR tests ahead of the league games," EFA medical committee boss Dr. Mohamed Soltan told a television programme.

After giving the green light to the Egyptian Premier League to resume, the EFA ordered all Egyptian League players to undergo PCR tests ahead of every game.

The Egyptian Premier League resumed on 7 August after almost five months of suspended activities due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We will fine the clubs who are not complying with the precautionary measures against coronavirus," Soltan added.

"We are following the clubs during the league games and we will fine the non-observant clubs,"

The Egyptian Premier league resumed on Thursday as Zamalek defeated Masry 1-0, while title holders Ahly will face Enppi late on Sunday.

Premier League title holders Ahly are leading the teams table with 49 points after playing 17 matches, 16 points over second placed Arab Contractors, who played one game more.
