Sources in the presidential campaign of Mubarak's former spy chief Omar Suleiman told Ahram Online on Sunday evening that they are "confident' the Supreme Presidential Electoral Commission (SPEC) would accept their appeal to allow their presidential hopeful to run for the country's highest office.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Suleiman was disqualified by the SPEC on Saturday due to what they described as "an administrative error" in evaluating the candidate's paper work by the commission.
"Our application and tallies for required endorsements was solid," the source said.
The SPEC will make an announcement declaring on 26 April to reveal the list of finalists who will compete for president in elections set for 23 - 24 May.
