World capitals react to presidential win by Egypt Brotherhood's Morsi

Foreign capitals send messages of congratulations to Egypt's new president and the Egyptian people for successful completion of first free presidential election

In a statement released on Sunday evening, the United Arab Emirates congratulated the Egyptian people on the successful conclusion of their first free presidential election.

"We hail the Egypt presidential election results and respect the free will of the Egyptian people," the statement read. "We hope this election will bring them both stability and prosperity."

UAE minister Abd Allah Ben Zaid declared on Twitter: "Congratulations to Egypt."

The emir of Kuwait, meanwhile, congratulated Morsi in an official statement, which read: "We wish President Morsi the best of luck in meeting the hopes and dreams of the Egyptian people and restoring Egypt's vital role on the regional and international stages."

UK Foreign Minister William Hague, for his part, stated: "Congratulations to the Egyptian people for the successful conclusion of a fair and transparent election."
