Egypt's president Mohamed Morsi has issued presidential decree 11/2012 ordering the country's dissolved lower house of parliament to resume its legislative work, and said new parliament elections will be held within 60 days of the ratification of the new constitution.

The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) had dismantled the Islamist dominated People's Assembly mid-June following a ruling by the High Constitutional Court which rendered parliamentary election law  unconstitutional.
