The Cairo giants announced on Tuesday the signing of the Brazilian winger from Bolivia's Club Bolivar on a three-year contract.
“I am very happy to be a part of the Ahly team,” Savio told the club’s official website on Wednesday. “I am very proud to be here. It is the best moment in my career.”
“When I received the club offer, I accepted it immediately because it is a huge step in my career.”
The 28-year-old added that he is aware that his mission with his new club will not be easy, and he knows that he will face a number of challenges with a great club like Ahly.
“Ahly is the biggest club in Africa and I know that playing in a such club will be a huge responsibility,” he said.
“I will do my best to reserve a place in the team line-up and to help the club win matches and trophies.”
“I hope to be the best player in the Egyptian league.”
The Brazilian winger said that he had known about Ahly for a long time due to the club’s previous participations at the FIFA Club World Cup, adding that he hopes to play in a such world competition.
“I watched Ahly several times at the FIFA Club World Cup. It is a dream for any player to play in a such world competition and I also hope to play in the CAF Champions League,” he said.
