Recently appointed justice minister Ahmed Mekki on Wednesday denied making any statements to the press since he took up his post in relation to the High Constitutional Court (HCC), its rulings or judges.
The assembly of the HCC, Egypt's highest court, released a statement on Wednesday expressing its dissatisfaction with what it described as a media campaign that targets the court and its judges.
The Minister of Justice made statements suggesting the HCC should postpone the case regarding the dissolution of parliament. Mekki however denied making such statements, saying he abstains from commenting on these issues.
One of the first acts of Mohamed Morsi as president was a presidential decree on 9 July reinstating parliament, despite a ruling by the HCC that it was unconstitutional and the consequent dissolution of parliament by the military council. Parliament then convened once to announce the freezing of its activities.
