In advance of Friday's anticipated pro-Morsi rallies, FJP Spokesman Nader Omran emphasised Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi's electoral legitimacy. Omran explained the reasoning behind Friday's rallies, which are intended to show support for the president.
"We're gathering on Friday to send this message: protest all you want in a peaceful way, gather if you want to convince people that the president hasn't done enough, or hasn't done anything at all, but step over legitimacy and that is really a red line," Omran stated two days before mass opposition rallies spearheaded by the 'Rebel' campaign..
Last Friday, hundreds of thousands of Morsi supporters gathered in front of Cairo's Rabaa El-Adawiya Mosque. Similarly, this Friday's pro-Morsi rallies are intended to show public support for the president. According to Omran, these rallies aim to send the message that "the majority is with the president."
"The people who chose the president have the right to protect their choice. They want to keep their president, to have him for four years, to give him the full chance to apply his vision," Omran added.
"If some people are not pleased with his performance, they can go to polling stations and they can change it."
