Fifteen have been killed in a gunfight Monday evening between shop owners and street vendors in the central Cairo district of El-Moski, state news agency MENA reported.
A fire also erupted in one of the shops during the fight but firefighters were able to contain it before it spread to nearby buildings, a security source told MENA.
Violent street fights have increased over the past two and a half years due to lax security and the spread of unlicenced weapons in the wake of the January 25 revolution.
