Egypt’s Salah, Hegazy nominated in CAF team of the tournament

Egypt’s forward Mohamed Salah and central defender Ahmed Hegazy have been nominated in the CAF team of tournament.

The African governing body has announced it prizes for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon’s Christian Bassogog claiming the best player award and DR Congo’s Junior Kabananga the golden boot award.

CAF Prizes:

Top scorer: Junior Kabananga (3 goals)
Best player: Christian Bassogog
Fair play: Egypt

Team of the year:

Goalkeeper: Fabrice Ondoa (Cameroon)
Defenders: Modou Kara Mbodji (Senegal), Ahmed Hegazy (Egypt), Michael Ngadeu (Cameroon)
Midfielders: Charles Kabore (Burkina Faso), Daniel Amartey (Ghana), Bertrand Traore (Burkina Faso), Christian Atsu (Ghana), Mohamed Salah (Egypt)
Forwards: Christian Bassogog (Cameroon), Junior Kabananga (DR Congo)

*Correction: Cameroon’s keeper Fabrice Ondoa has been named the best keeper award not Egypt’s Essam El-Hadary.
