Egypt's opponents Uganda announce final 23-man squad for 2019 AFCON

Uganda coach Sebastien Desabre announced on Tuesday his team's 23-man final squad that will be participating in the 2019 African Cup of Nations, which is taking place in Egypt from 21 June to 19 July.

Uganda were drawn in Group A alongside hosts Egypt, DR Congo and Zimbabwe.

KCCA’s Sadam Juma, Carlstad United’s Alexis David Bbakka and Viper's midfielder Moses Waiswa were the prominent names excluded by the French tactician from the final roster.

The record seven-time African champions Egypt will kick off the tournament by playing Zimbabwe on 21 June, while they will meet Uganda in their final match of the group stage on 30 June.

Uganda will take on Cote d’Ivoire next Saturday in their final preparatory match before heading to Egypt for the prestigious tournament.

Uganda's final squad:

Goalkeepers: Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa), Jamal Salim (Al Hilal- Sudan).

Defenders: Nico Wakiro Wadada (Azam, Tanzania), Brian Ronald Ddungu Mukiibi (Ostersunds, Sweden), Murushid Jjuuko (Simba, Tanzania), Bevis Mugabi (Yeovil Town, England), Timothy Denis Awanyi (KCCA FC, Uganda), Isaac Muleme (FK Viktoria Zizkov, Czech Republic), Hassan Wasswa Mawanda (Unattached), Joseph Ochaya (TP Mazembe, DR Congo), Godfrey Walusimbi (Un-attached).

Midfielders:Mike Azira (Montreal Impact, Canada), Tadeo Lwanga (Vipers SC-Uganda), Allan Kateregga (Maritzburg, South Africa), William Kizito Luwagga (Shakhter Karagandy, Kazakhstan), Faruku Miya (HNK Gorica, Croatia), Abdul Lumala (Syrianska, Sweden), Khalid Aucho (Church Hill Brothers, India).

Strikers: Patrick Henry Kaddu (KCCA FC, Uganda), Allan Kyambadde (KCCA FC Uganda), Derrick Nsibambi (Smouha, Egypt), Emmanuel Arnold Okwi (Simba, Tanzania).
