Egyptian referee Gehad Greisha will officiate at the African Cup of Nations, which kicks off in Egypt next week, after CAF lifted a six-month suspension imposed on him last month.
African governing body CAF abruptly suspended Greisha over what it called his "poor performance" in the first leg of the Champions League final between Morocco's Wydad and Tunisia's Esperance.
Wydad were infuriated after having a goal disallowed by Greisha, who also waved away their penalty claims in another incident after reviewing the VAR on both occasions.
"Egyptian Football Association refereeing chief Essam Abdel-Fattah said the appeal against Greisha's suspension has been accepted by CAF. Accordingly, the suspension has been lifted," the EFA said in a statement.
"Greisha will now join the referees' training camp for the Nations Cup tomorrow."
Esperance held Wydad to a 1-1 away draw in the first leg but the second was even more controversial, with Gambian referee Bakary Gassama abandoning the match after a 90-minute stoppage as the Moroccans walked off in protest at a goal wrongly disallowed for offside, with VAR malfunctioning.
The trophy was initially awarded to Esperance but CAF later ordered a replay of the match, but has not specified a date.
The lifting of Greisha's suspension brings the total number of Egyptian referees at the Nations Cup to three after Ibrahim Nour El-Din and Amin Omar.
The tournament will kick off on Friday when Egypt take on Zimbabwe in the opening Group A match at Cairo's International Stadium.
