Ahmed Ahmed, president of the Confederation of African Football thanked Egypt for its wonderful hosting of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), describing how the country made a great effort to earn such success.
''Before the tournament I had many fears concerning the security and refereeing, but the competition went without any problems," Ahmed Ahmed told reporters on Thursday.
"Many thanks to Egypt for its Wonderful hosting of the competition and for their huge efforts to secure the competition.''
"They made a great effort to organize and to secure this expanded edition of the AFCON.”
''Thanks to president Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi for this wonderful hosting," he added.
Meanwhile the CAF president revealed that the tournament brought $83 million in revenues.
"The 2019 edition brought us $83 million in revenues, while the 2017 revenues was $ 67 million"
"This success reveals that we are on the right track,'' he concluded.
