A border guard was killed and 3 other military personnel injured in a car accident in a mountainous part of Wadi Al-Gedid governorate on Sunday afternoon, state agency MENA reported.
Conscript Amr Ahmed, 20, was killed and two other conscripts and an officer were injured in an accident that occurred while they were tracking a number of smugglers in the Al-Farafa area in Egypt's western desert.
The security forces arrested the smugglers following the incident.
In July, 21 border guards were killed in a militant attack in Al-Farafa, in one of the biggest attacks targeting security forces in Egypt in recent years.
In May, five border guards were killed in a similar assault in the same area in clashes with smugglers.
