A woman in Beheira governorate was forced to give birth in the street outside a hospital after a doctor insisted that she have a caesarian

Kafr El-Dawar General Hospital's director and seven doctors from the same facility has been referred to court on over accusations that a patient in labour was not admitted to the state-owned hospital, thus forcing her to give birth in the street.

Defendants are blamed for not instigating the necessary procedures after Olfat Abdel-Wahed, the woman who eventually had to give birth in front of the hospital's gate in Beheira governorate west of the Nile Delta, was examined.

In a short video clip, a woman was shown giving birth in the street aided by nurses in front of Kafr El-Dawar General Hospital. People outside the hospital kept angrily stating that she was forced to give birth in such conditions after a doctor told her she needed a caesarian section.

The hospital director and other doctors were suspended before they were referred to court.
