Thousands have gathered in Alexandria to demonstrate in the “National Unity” and “Palestinian Solidarity” Friday.
One demonstration started marching from in front of the Qaed Ibrahim mosque to join another staged in front of the Alexandria Library.
The two demonstrations merged to march towards the city's Israeli Consulate, waving Egyptian and Palestinian flags.
Demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine were staged in other Egyptian cities, including Cairo, Arish and Suez.
Several convoys are planned to head on Saturday to the Rafah border crossing for a rally to be staged on Sunday 15 May, marking the Palestinian Nakba Day.
