Palestine fully supports the Saudi-led military operation against Houthi rebels in Yemen, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said during Saturday's Arab League summit, but added that Arab countries should not relinquish "the best option" of dialogue.
Abbas also voiced his support for Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's earlier proposition of an joint Arab military force in the region.
He touched upon the complete halt of negotiations with Israel, attributing it to Israeli's continued building of new settlements in occupied territories.
Abbas said that Israel has been intensifying its attacks on Islamic as well as Christian sacred sites, threatening to turn the national struggle into a religious struggle.
The Palestinian president called on fellow Arab states to protect Jerusalem and support the efforts of its people. He also called for a resolution on refusing any projects that suggest dividing the Gaza Strip from the rest of Palestine.
