Egypt's minister of electricity Mohamed Shaker made his way to the Egyptian Media Production City on Tuesday, after it witnessed a second power cut.

The electricity feed to the city, which hosts Egypt's private satellite channels, was brought down when bombs targeting two electricity pylons nearby went off on Tuesday morning, leading to a first power outage.

The first outage was mitigated by an emergency feed from a different grid, reported the Ahram Arabic news website, but then problems with this emergency feed caused a second power cut.

Islamist militants have typically targeted Egypt’s security forces since the ouster of Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi in 2013, but some attacks are directed at infrastructure, including electricity pylons and railway tracks.
