An improvised bomb exploded early Saturday next to an electricity kiosk behind Fayoum Sports Stadium, damaging the kiosk and part of the wall of the stadium, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
Neither casualties nor injuries were reported.
Major General Younis Gahr, Fayoum security head, received notification of the incident that said part of the stadium wall was destroyed due to the severity of the blast.
The explosion also caused damage to a car parked nearby, and a booth selling groceries.
Egypt has recently seen an increase of bombings in civilian areas in Cairo and other cities, which seldom happened previously as militants targeted police and army personnel and facilities.
Electricity pylons are often targetted. Last year, police forces said militant attacks was one of the factors contributing to regular power cuts, along with fuel shortages in power plants.
Last week, a policeman in Fayoum was injured when gunmen opened fire at a small police station in a village in the central Fayoum governorate.
