Turkish Airlines has extended a suspension of flights to the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh that was due to end Monday over security concerns following a Russian airliner crash late October.

The flag-carrier had cancelled flights to Sharm El-Sheikh 6 November over fears that Islamist militants were behind the crash of Airbus A321 over Egypt's Sinai, killing all 224 aboard.

"Because of security issues over the airfield of Sharm El-Sheikh our flights has been mutually canceled till 30 November 2015," the airliner said Saturday in an update to an earlier announcement on its official website.

It added that a "plan for the evacuation of passengers" who are still in the resort city will be announced later.

Fears that a bomb downed the plane prompted Russia to suspend flights to Egypt and ban incoming flights by Egypt's state-owned airliner.

Egypt - along with Russia - are conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
