Five people, including a child, were killed in a four-vehicle collision south of Cairo on Wednesday, state news agency MENA and Ahram Arabic news website reported.
Provincial security chief Mahmour Al-Asheiry said the accident, which occurred on a highway near the governorate of Beni Suef 100 km (62 miles) south of Cairo, also injured five others.
The accident was caused by heavy fog, according to Ahram Arabic news website.
The accident is the latest in thousands of road crashes that take place on an almost daily basis in Egypt, which is notorious for poor road safety and loosely enforced traffic regulations.
The country's census authority said earlier this week that over 2800 people were killed in road and train crashes in the North African country in the first half of 2015.
