Giza governor Mohamed Kamal El-Daly said Sunday evening that families of the victims who died in Al-Ayyat accident in Giza Sunday receive LE5000 each and that every injured individual receives LE2000.

The Social Solidarity ministry will also offer compensation for the families of the victims and for the injured.

Cabinet spokesperson Hossam Qawish said the PM has asked Social Solidarity minister Ghada Waly to provide a compensation of LE10,000 for the families of the deceased and LE2,000  for the injured.

El-Daly said a technical committee will determine the reason why the deadly accident happened.

A train had crashed into a truck on Sunday during foggy conditions at a railroad crossing, leaving three dead and seven injured.

The crossing, which is operated manually, was open as the train was passing.

Egypt's railway system has a low safety level due to poor infrastructure, and to the fact that hundreds of railway crossings are managed manually, based on communication between crossing guards and train drivers.
