A European parliament delegation headed by the chairman of the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Elmar Brok arrived in Cairo Saturday for talks with Egypt's parliamentary speaker Ali Abdel-Al.

Talks will focus on Egypt's role in the region, and the strengthening of ties between Egypt and the EU.

The eight-member delegation will also meet with a number of officials and with civil society representatives.

Since the Egyptian parliament first convened on 10 January, Abdel-Al has met with a number of ambassadors from Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Spain.
