An Egyptian delegation is preparing for a visit in the next few days to the Libyan capital of Tripoli. The delegation will include ministers and businessmen who are qualified to set a new agenda for Egyptian-Libyan relations and assess Libya's needs for the coming period. Several of the ministers will be chosen from fields on the basis of assisting the delegation in its aim to plan Egypt’s provision of technical assistance for Libya's coming reconstruction phase.

According to Ayman Mashrafa, Egyptian deputy foreign minister for the Maghreb (North Africa) countries, this visit was agreed upon during a meeting between Libyan National Transitional Council (NTC) senior member Mahmoud Jibril and Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf in Cairo last week.

Mashrafa said that the visit would also include the city of Benghazi, not just Tripoli. He added that Egypt’s recognition of the Libyan NTC automatically implies that it no longer recognises Gaddafi’s regime.
