Sisi offers condolences for victims of EgyptAir plane crash

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi offered his condolences on Friday to the families of passengers on board an EgyptAir plane that crashed while en route from Paris to Cairo, after the army found parts of the plane's debris off the coast of Alexandria.

"The presidency with great sadness and deep sorrow mourns the victims on aboard the EgyptAir flight who were killed after the plane crashed in the Mediterranean," the president's office said in a statement. 

The presidency said that investigations are underway to "uncover the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident and identify truths and causes of the crash."

It expressed its thanks to countries assisting Egyptian forces the searching process, which include Greece, France, Britain, Cyprus and Italy.

Of the 56 passengers on board, 30 were Egyptian. The ten crew members were all Egyptian.
