A Giza misdemeanor court sentenced on Tuesday two pro-Morsi TV hosts in absentia to two years in jail for incitement against state institutions and spreading false news and rumours.

Bail was set at EGP 5000.

The two hosts, Moatez Mattar and Mohamed Nasser, were both sentenced in absentia.

Moatez Mattar and Mohamed Nasser are currently working for the pro-Muslim Brotherhood "Al-Sharq" channel that broadcasts from Turkey.

The prosecution accused the two TV hosts of broadcasting video clips on social media networks "mocking Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and his speeches, as well as spreading rumours about the lack of social justice in Egypt and the decline of Suez Canal revenues."
