Tens of teachers in Aswan held a demonstration in front of their governorate's headquarters on Saturday in support of the march being held by teachers in Cairo in front of Cabinet headquarters.

Thousands of teachers from several of Egypt’s governorates have marched on the Cabinet to press for their demands to be met.

Egypt’s teachers have been on strike for a week demanding that the government implement a LE1200 monthly minimum wage, release the funds from the 200 per cent productivity bonus promised to public sector workers and discontinue merit tests, among other demands.
