After much discontent from El-Adl (Justice Party) members over the agreement reached by 12 of Egypt’s political parties and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF), Mostafa El-Naggar, the party’s representative at Saturday’s meeting, has announced a change of stance.

On Saturday, El-Naggar signed onto a military council proposal which included an amendment to the elections law and proposed changes regarding several controversial issues. Later, he announced on his Twitter account his decision to revoke his approval, leaving the final decision to the party's high committee.

The agreement involved eight points. One of the key points entailed an amendment to Article 5 of the elections law, allowing political parties to also field candidates for the remaining one-third of Parliament’s seats, previously reserved for independent candidates.
