President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi assured Saudi King Salman in a Tuesday phone call of Egypt’s solidarity with the kingdom in face of terrorism, state news agency MENA reported.
On Monday, two bombings took place near the Prophet's mosque in Medina, killing at least four.
Following the attacks, Egypt released a statement saying "The brutal, vile terrorism...raised its ugly head in one of the purest and most sacred sites, just to reaffirm [that terrorism] knows no religion, faith or the meaning of humanity," the statement read.
The king, in turn, expressed gratitude and appreciation to Egypt and the Egyptian people.
El-Sisi also sent his regards to the king for the Eid Al-Fitr feast, which starts on Wednesday, and is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to mark the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
