Hamam El-Kamony was executed early Monday morning for the murder of seven people, six of whom were Christians and one, a Muslim guard in the town of Naga Hamadi.

The January 2009 attack in the southern town of Naga Hammadi took place outside a church as worshippers left following the Coptic Christmas Mass.

El-Kamony was sentenced to death by the Emergency State Security Court in Qena in January 2011.
